In Regards to the Kardashian Problem →

Here is a really interesting article on the rising concern and outrage over the Kardashian clan.  I for one am not a fan of the family.  I have not met any of them personally, so I cannot speak to the kind of individuals they are, but it rubs me the wrong way that they have become successful and famous without truly accomplishing anything.

But whose fault is that really?  Certainly not the Kardashians, who have done nothing except take advantage of the opportunities given to them.  The media is not to blame either. The television networks only responsibility lies with its investors.  Their job, like any other business, is to make money and the Kardashians are making them tons of money.

So what should we do?  I agree that if you are disgusted by the show, the best thing to do is not watch. If enough people do that, the shows will no longer be profitable, and the networks will get rid of them. But perhaps there is an even better solution.  We should use these shows as a teaching opportunity. This is a chance to explain to your children why you don’t think living the way Kim and Co. do is the best way to live.

Good parenting will trump all.
